Windows did it again and forced a stupid function known as Copilot(link is external) on us within a Windows update. To remove (disable) follow the the below instructions. Enabling instructions are below as well.

Because things can go awfully wrong when editing the registry, only advanced users should perform the below registry commands. Also, would be an awesome idea to back up your registry and create a restore point prior to executing the below registry commands.

The NSA (National Security Agency) recently published a decent guide to secure your home network. Some recommendations may be too technical to implement. Even if people implemented only half of the bullet points contained in the 9 page document, it would a huge step into securing a home network. But I think the majority are doable.

After getting my amateur radio licenses (over a year ago), I switched from Linux to Windows because most software for my radios seem to only target Windows. Prior to the switch, I used Linux as my main computers (laptops and servers) for over 15 years, so this was done under extreme protest. How has it been going?

I've been having a hard time getting the Uniden SDS100 serial over USB to work with my Windows virtual machine, but finally figured it out.

My virtual machine setup

Using VirtualBox with Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack installed. The first thing you'll want to do after installing the Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack is to enable USB via the virtual machine's settings. I selected USB 3.0, but depending on your use case, you may have to try another option.
